“Creakily” is an aqueous collaboration created across states. As my video piece is projected across the surface of large containers of water, the vessels, hooked up to transducers, vibrate with an audio score created by Will. The creation becomes a “material glitch.” Water erodes the sureness of pre-recorded video and audio. Repetition drifts away from a set form, turning instead towards elemental improvisation.
This work was created and installed in June 2021 for the Open Air Media Festival in Iowa City, IA.
