Kelly Clare (they/them, she/her) is an artist, writer, and editor based in Western Massachusetts. Working in large-scale installation, sculpture, drawing, poetry, and performance, Clare explores queer digital materiality through humor, linguistic play, and found objects. Clare exhibits their work at a number of venues, including SoMad (NYC), InterAccess (Toronto), Dudd Haus (NYC), SOIL (Seattle), ARC Gallery (Chicago), and SooVac (Minneapolis).
Their work has been supported by residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, A.P.E. Ltd., and Public Space One.
Clare is the author of three experimental poetry chapbooks: demonstration forest (Community Mausoleum, 2025), Universal Product Code (TABLOID, 2026), and NEARLY EARLY ARTLY NEVER (Greying Ghost, 2024).
Before relocating to Western Mass, they received both their MA and MFA with honors from the Sculpture and Intermedia Department at the University of Iowa.
Clare is an editor at Ghost Proposal, a small press for work that transcends traditional notions of genre.

artist statement
Inspired by traditions of kitsch craft, printmaking, and even laundry, my work uses the scrapyard of everyday objects to open the overheating closets of wires and cables that digitally connect us all. Images compost, merge, and etch into the mineral present. Through installation, video, sculpture, and drawing, I seek to push beyond the screen and into the rooms on the other side.
